Pakistan all-rounder and Peshawar Zalmi player Shahid Afridi announced the news on Twitter, saying that the championship would provide an international platform to players from around the world to showcase their talent.

Peshawar Zalmi CEO Javed Afridi earlier this month tweeted about the tournament and said that the championship would be held in the UAE.

Peshawar Zalmi was among the most popular franchises in the inaugural PSL edition held in the UAE in February 2016. However, Zalmi – led by Afridi – lost the two qualifiers to Quetta Gladiators and Islamabad United which ended their run in the league.
